Eastbourne Outmeeting

Next Saturday 3rd October we are marching at Eastbourne. This meeting gets better and better each year and is a shortish, flat march to a bonfire on the beach with fireworks and a bar. Very family friendly.

Firesite!

It is with great pleasure and no small measure of excitement that we can report that Southover Bonfire Society will have a firesite this year.

Southover Bonfire 2014

Tom Gent, Southover’s Commander in Chief, made the announcement at last night’s programme launch event at The Kings Head confirming that, following months of hard work involving many members of the Society, we have secured the Stanley Turner Ground as our firesite for this year and for the future.

Torchmaking Sundays

Torchmaking season is upon us. Each marching member will burn up to ten torches on the 5th, so we are going to need thousands of them, and we need your help to get them all made.

Training will be given to newcomers, while old hands can concentrate on perfecting the traditionally high-quality SBS torch. We’ll be at The Swan, our new torchmaking venue, each Sunday morning between 9:30 and 11:30, and it would be great to see you there!

Come down for a cheeky half of Harvey’s before Mayfield! Cliffe drummers and Commercial Sq Pipe Band will be there, so we need as much ‘Red and Black’ as possible!

There will likely be quite a bit of media interest due to it being the launch of the new Lewes FC strip, the sponsor being ‘Squeeze’, Jools Holland’s old band!
