Pentactle Drummers’ Wassail

wassail

An Outmeeting with a difference! We will be supporting our fantastic Pentacle Drummers, who support us each year.

For those who don’t know, a Wassail is an awakening, and blessing of the apple trees, so they produce the apples to make good cider later in the year. This event has been well supported by our friends from both Eastbourne and Seaford Bonfire Societies, and there is a short torchlit procession. An excellent reason to support the Pentacles and have a bit of party, in a slow time of the year after the holidays when we’re all feeling Bonfire Season is an age away. So, Pentacle Drummers, mulled cider, procession, fire, noise and music – what’s not to like?!

Smugglers / Pagan costume only. Any ‘Green Man’ additions to your smugglers gear would be appreciated (but maybe not essential), this is a very family friendly event.

Saturday 14 January 2017

Meet at Swan at 16:15 (4:15pm)
Leave Swan at 16:45 (4:45pm)
Event starts at 18:00 (6pm) The Royal Oak & Castle, Pevensey Castle.

Please book your place on the bus/minibus below, there has been a lot of interest in this so get in quick! We will need to provide some torches so any volunteers welcome! (Bonny’s Wood, probably the weekend before). Depending on the level of interest, we maybe required to limit the number of people in the procession; those not able to process will be required to drink and/or cider and be merry!

NOTE – there are elements of Bonfire but it is not a Bonfire event. No Rookies etc, but flares are allowed in the procession if properly disposed of.
